.NFCA LINKS

The National Federation of Croatian Americans (NFCA) has been established to maintain a national infrastructure and network linking Croatian-American organizations and individual activists willing to work together and coordinate priority activities that enhance the Croatian image in the United States and truly promote programs that strengthen and support the many cultural, educational, humanitarian, public relations, social and political activities that are most important to the national Croatian American community.

WHAT IS THE NFCA?

The National Federation of Croatian Americans (NFCA) is an umbrella organization linking ten Croatian American organizations and several hundred individuals through a shared national agenda. The NFCA and its network of friends has an impressive record of accomplishments, defending the interests of the Croatian American community. The NFCA is a non-profit entity, registered under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code which can engage in political and lobbying activities.

WHAT DOES THE NFCA DO?

The NFCA strives every day to be an effective advocate for our community, especially through interaction with the White House, U.S. State Department, U.S. Congress and American media. The NFCA maintains an office in the nation's capital. The NFCA has attended dozens of meetings at the White House and State Department as well as with select Congressmen to promote the interests of Croats in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. By mobilizing its member organizations and allied activists, the NFCA can work on any project of significance to the Croatian American community.

WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE NFCA?

The NFCA was established by representatives of all major Croatian-American organizations.

The NFCA is governed by an annual Assembly of Delegates which consists of representatives from each member organization. The Assembly of Delegates elects a Board of Directors composed of twenty-one individuals, with seven from each of the Eastern, Central and Western regions of the United States. The Board elects an Executive Committee which is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the NFCA.

HOW IS THE NFCA FUNDED?

The annual dues for a member organization is $500 per delegate up to a maximum of ten delegates. The NFCA also welcomes donations from individuals, companies and other non-member organizations. All money raised is used for priority projects and for the needs of the national office. The NFCA receives no funding from any government and all NFCA Board members and officers serve without remuneration of any kind.

DOES THE NFCA SPEAK FOR THE CROATIAN GOVERNMENT?

No. The NFCA is a Croatian-American organization. While it maintains contacts on a regular basis with Croatian government representatives as well as representatives of the Croatian community in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatian media, it is an independent organization which solely reflects the views of its membership.

HOW CAN I ASSIST THE NFCA IN SUPPORTING THE CROATIAN PEOPLE?

First, if you are a member of a local Croatian-American organization, please encourage your national or local organization to join the NFCA.

Second, you can join the NFCA as an individual member by paying annual dues of only $35.

Third, you can volunteer for the NFCA by engaging in grass roots activities such as identifying elected officials and candidates that support our cause, writing letters to your Congressmen and Senators, writing letters to the editor, and volunteering for activities organized by the NFCA.

NFCA CULTURAL FOUNDATION

The NFCA Cultural Foundation is a tax-exempt and tax-deductible organization established under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The NFCA Cultural Foundation focuses on a variety of public relations, educational, cultural-oriented and priority media activities.
